Nurhayati Ali is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology. She is a Rohingya community organizer in Milwaukee who has arranged and organized many events to help empower and push for more women’s participation in the community. Nurhayati was born in Yangon, Myanmar. Her family relocated to the US in 2002, and settled in Wisconsin as the first Rohingya family in the city. She is currently working as a medical assistant at a local clinic in preparation for medical school. Nurhayati is also a cofounder and the director of health and human services at the Rohingya Maìyafuìnor Collaborative Network, which is a women-led, Rohingya-led and refugee-led organization working on Rohingya human rights issues, SGBV, education and translocal solidarity with a focus on women, peace and security. She working towards her goal to become a resourceful physician for underserved minority groups in America and provide them the quality care that they deserve, especially in her own community.
